Quantifiably Better – Perfecting the Science of Absolute Returns©
GENEVA VENTURE MANAGEMENT provides Pension Funds, Insurance, Family Offices, Endowments, Foundations, Corporate and Institutional Investors with in-depth advisory services in this Alternative Asset class. We place and manage Fund of Funds investments primarily in top performing Venture Capital and Private Equity funds by thoroughly evaluating Fund Manager performance and selecting the optimal funds for those portfolios. We also invest in quoted small cap, M&A, special situations, expanding business stage funds and directly, on a side-by-side basis with our Fund Managers in select transactions.
Historical evidence indicates that investing in alternative assets, such as Venture Capital and Private Equity funds can provide higher overall portfolio returns and lower portfolio investment correlations while providing some down-side protection against market losses. However, allocating to alternative asset funds also requires greater in-depth screening not typically found when selecting more traditional funds. Concerns regarding historical lack of transparency, irregular return distribution characteristics, diverse data sources and the proper assessment of upside opportunities need to be fully addressed.
We provide initial screening against qualitative criteria, down market analysis, maximum losses over periods of cyclical distress and risk/return measures. We compare Fund Manager performance utilizing volatility-adjusted methods resulting in a more accurate portrayal of risk-adjusted fund performance. We discard those higher risk Fund Managers in favor of consistent top performing Fund Managers with viable investment opportunities. And, we qualitatively screen each Manager’s industry sector knowledge, active engagement level, deal sourcing network attributes to properly assess the highest explanatory power for each fund.
In the complex software technology sector, we believe we offer a higher set of expertise, skills, selection capability and mission critical advice to our investors. With years of transaction experience within some of the most successful software companies in history, we bring our unique skills to maximize value creation to shareholders.
